The shortest day of the journey: 3 h 45 min of walking to Rossinière. Use the time you save to count the windows of the Grand Chalet. I'll whisper the answer: 113. The painter Balthus spent the last years of his life there. In the forest, the red squirrel hides its hazelnuts and forgets some of them: it plants trees without knowing it.

Montreux → Vaduz

In Rossinière, take a last look at the Grand Chalet, built from 1752 to 1756: five floors and 113 windows to polish. Then climb gently back to L'Etivaz, in 4 h. In the fir trees, the red squirrel hides its seeds for the winter. It will forget some of them, and the forest will thank it.
