Vaduz → Montreux

On your way out of Kandersteg, you pass the centre where, since 1923, scouts from every corner of the globe have gathered. Then 1410 m of climbing over the day, topping out at the Bunderchrinde, a deep notch in the rocky ridge. Up there, look for the golden eagle: it hunts over the pastures. Your legs, meanwhile, are mostly hunting for the path to Adelboden, 16.2 km further on.

Montreux → Vaduz

Setting off from Adelboden: 1233 m of climbing and 1410 m of descent over the day, with the Bunderchrinde, a narrow notch in the ridge, as the high point before Kandersteg. Keep an eye on the sky: a pair of golden eagles defends a territory of several dozen square kilometres. You only have one territory to defend today: your snack.

• Kandersteg scout centre Since 1923, Kandersteg has hosted a centre where scouts from every corner of the globe meet. It moved into a building left empty after the Lötschberg tunnel was built.
